That summer, Booker played in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League, participated for the Elite 100 Camp, the LeBron James King’s Academy Camp and the Kevin Durant Nike Skills Camp. He would average 22.8 points a game and earned the South Mississippi Player of the Year award becoming the second sophomore to receive the award. By early January, people would begin to notice Booker, and he'd receive some media attention. For his sophomore year, he would go to school at Moss Point in Mississippi to live with his dad after his retirement from basketball.
